Nnewi:The City With Great Sports Culture, But Lacking Standard Sporting Facilities
Thousands of Nnewi residents, many of which belong to one local club or the other converge at the popular Nnewi High School every Saturday to exercise and burn calories .
It’s now more than a sports or exercise ,it’s now a culture .It’s also an avenue for people to network and get business contacts .

Many couples meet themselves there too. Many small business started there by selling to people who come for sporting activities.
Although many Nnewi residents know what happens at Nnewi High School every Saturday and even on Sundays, there are still many who are not aware.
With the way Nnewi residents love and participate in sports ,it’s expected that the city which is also very populated should have at least one standard sporting centre/mini stadium that will have all the sporting facilities and also be open to the general public at all times.
Many usually say that Nnewi has Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium, but they always forget that it’s a private property and might not always be open to the public to use ,the way they do at Nnewi High School.
Nnewi as a city has surpassed the level of using a government secondary school as a sporting centre .
We hope the government looks into that as it has become so much of a necessity.
