Nnewi North is a dynamic Local Government Area located in the heart of Anambra State, situated in the south-eastern region of Nigeria. The area’s administrative center is the town of Nnewi, which is also the sole town within Nnewi North LGA. This local government area is unique in that it is comprised of four distinct villages (sub-towns): Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim, and Nnewichi, all coming together to form the town known as Nnewi .
Leadership and Traditional Heritage
At the helm of Nnewi’s traditional affairs stands the revered traditional ruler, Igwe Kenneth Orizu III. Hailing from the Otolo village, Igwe Kenneth Orizu III is considered the paramount ruler and holds a position of great significance among the four villages. Additionally, each of the other villages, namely Uruagu, Umudim, and Nnewichi, boasts its own respected traditional ruler, responsible for overseeing the cultural and traditional affairs of their respective domains. Otolo:
Otolo is the first among the four quarters of Nnewi .
The governance of Otolo is traditionally structured under a monarchy, with the Nwosu family reigning for generations. Within the Nwosu family, a part of the larger Nwakanwa family, Chief Chukwuemeka Ofili Nwosu currently holds the traditional leadership. He succeeded his late father, Chief A.B.C Nwosu, who was a former minister of health,lawyer and general in the now-deposed Biafran army. Chief Ofili Nwosu has three children with his first wife, Chief Mrs. Ebele Nwosu, namely Prince Nwosu Chukwudumebi Obidimma, Princess Adanna Nwosu (also known as the ADA of Otolo), and Prince Chukwukamso Nwosu, the youngest of the siblings. The Nwosu family is extensive and is a part of the even larger Nwakanwa family, which, in turn, is part of the broader Obiuno family.

Uruagu, the second quarter of Nnewi, holds its own historical and cultural significance. It stands alongside Otolo, Umudim, and Nnewichi as an essential part of the town.
Uruagu is the commercial hub of Nnewi that hosts all the major markets in the city.

Umudim village is the third quarter of Nnewi. Along with Otolo, Uruagu, and Nnewichi, Umudim plays a vital role in shaping the identity and heritage of Nnewi town.
Umudim is the administrative quarter of Nnewi as it hosts the secretariat of Nnewi North local government area.
Umudim also plays host to all the functional courts in Nnewi like the customary court,high court,magistrate court,which are located within Nnewi GRA and Nnewi North local government headquarter premises.
Umudim is also the medical hub of Nnewi as it hosts the permanent site of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital,which is the biggest hospital in West Africa with its 2000 bed capacity.
Umudim also hosts many other government parastatals like the Federal Road Safety Corp office,The DSS office,Central police station,Nnewi area command office etc

The major lineages in Umudim are Ogo, Uru, Umudimnkwa, Umuele, Umuezeokalum, Okpuno-egbu, and Akamili.
The political structure in Nnewi is founded on a confederal system, which has existed since time immemorial and predates British colonial administration. Each quarter has its “OBI,” representing the traditional ruler, but their jurisdiction is limited to their respective quarters. The strength of the political union lies in the principle of “AGBANANO NNEWI,” recognizing the equality of the traditional rulers of all four quarters and the independence of their actions within their communities.
Nnewichi:
Nnewichi is a town in Nnewi North, Anambra State, Nigeria. It is the fourth quarter in Nnewi town.
Nnewichi is more like the residential area of Nnewi,as it hosts the highest number of non-indigenous residents among the quarters of Nnewi.
Nnewi is also the most urbanized quarter in Nnewi,as almost all the communities there are now urbanized.
There are four major communities in Nnewichi which include :

4.Obiofia
These communities all have different sub-communitues
