Buzzy.ng: A Smart Fintech & Social Commerce Platform Built from the Nnewi Tech Community

From auto parts to mobile apps, Nnewi is stepping into the future.

Long celebrated for its manufacturing strength, this vibrant Anambra city is now expanding its legacy by becoming a rising tech hub. At the heart of this movement is Buzzy.ng, a smart fintech and social commerce platform proudly built within the Nnewi Tech Community by Prince Obinna Muoma.

Buzzy.ng is changing the game for young entrepreneurs, vendors, students, and creators across Nigeria. It’s a platform that offers powerful tools to support digital hustle and financial inclusion, while also highlighting Nnewi’s growing influence as a hub for tech innovation in southeastern Nigeria.

What is Buzzy.ng?

Buzzy.ng is a Nigerian-made mobile application that combines fintech, e-commerce, and digital monetization tools in one platform. It allows users to buy and sell products, host events, pay utility bills, earn referral income, and promote businesses directly from their smartphones. Whether you’re a student running a side hustle, a local vendor looking to expand, or a creator trying to earn from your content, it offers a space to thrive.

But Buzzy.ng isn’t just a business app. It’s a community. It was built with local Nigerian users in mind, especially those from underserved and emerging tech areas like Nnewi. It reflects the hustle, ambition, and creativity that define the Nigerian entrepreneurial spirit.

Key Features of Buzzy.ng

1. Marketplace for Buying and Selling

Users can list their products or services on the app and reach a broad audience. Buyers can browse listings, chat with sellers, and place orders seamlessly. With support for logistics and delivery, the app ensures that products move easily from seller to buyer.

2. Event Hosting and Voting Tools

Need to host a campus event, online competition, or local award show? It provides tools to manage paid or free events, sell tickets, and even create voting pages. This is especially useful for student communities, entertainment events, or beauty pageants.

3. Airtime, Data, and Bill Payments

Users can recharge their phones, buy data, and pay utility bills like electricity all in one place. The app integrates secure payment methods and makes bill settlements easier and faster.

4. Referral Earning System

Buzzy.ng allows users to earn money by referring others. Through its affiliate system, users can receive up to 20% commission from transactions made by people they refer. It’s a way to make passive income while promoting a platform that helps others.

5. Business Promotions and Featured Listings

For creators, vendors, and small business owners, visibility is key. This app provides promotional tools that allow listings to be featured on the app dashboard, in newsletters, or on trending spots. This helps users attract more attention and boost their reach.

6. Secure and Easy-to-Use System

Security is a major concern in fintech, and Buzzy.ng takes this seriously. The app has removed the OTP system and replaced it with a secure PIN-based verification method, ensuring users are protected during every transaction. It also uses session verification for any background activity to prevent unauthorized access.

Upcoming Feature: Edo Coins

In line with its bold vision for the future, Buzzy.ng is also working on a powerful new feature called Edo Coins, a native digital token designed to power in-app activities and user rewards.

The name “Edo” is rich with cultural meaning. In Igbo language, Edo means “wealth” or “gold,” making it a fitting symbol for a feature that is all about value creation. Edo Coins will serve as an internal reward system on the app, allowing users to earn coins through activities such as referrals, purchases, event hosting, and promotions.

Though still in development at the time, Edo Coins has already been teased by the Buzzy.ng team on social media and interviews. Once fully rolled out, it’s expected to open up new ways for users to gain value and unlock premium features

This kind of innovation goes beyond functionality. It’s a cultural and economic statement, one that reflects the ambition of both the app and the community that birthed it.

Why Buzzy.ng Stands Out?

What makes Buzzy.ng different from other apps is its all-in-one approach. Instead of having multiple apps for selling products, sending money, buying data, hosting events, or promoting businesses, users can do everything from one app. It’s a digital Swiss knife for Nigerian hustlers.

Even more importantly, Buzzy.ng is built by Nigerians for Nigerians. It understands the everyday challenges faced by its users and offers real solutions without unnecessary complications. And unlike some platforms built in bigger cities, the app is rooted in a growing tech ecosystem in Nnewi, giving it a unique cultural and social perspective.

Behind the Build: How Buzzy.ng Was Developed

The journey to build Buzzy.ng wasn’t rushed, it was a long-term vision that took shape over several years.

According to the founder, prototyping and concept design took about three years, as the team carefully fine-tuned their ideas to meet the real needs of Nigerian users. By December 2023, they wrapped up the UI (User Interface) design and proceeded to full development and backend implementation.

A beta version was released in November 2024 for testing, and early users gave positive feedback on its speed, features, and overall experience. With those insights, the team made improvements and released the full version in January 2025.

However, the road to the Apple App Store was especially tough, it took about six months and nearly 48 resubmissions before the app was finally approved. This showed the team’s persistence and belief in building something great.

Buzzy.ng’s Official Unveiling and the Rise of the Nnewi Tech Community

The launch of Buzzy.ng is not just about the app, it’s a reflection of something bigger. On May 2, 2025, the app was officially unveiled during the Nnewi Digital Week, held at The Nnewi Hotel and Event Center. The energy during the event was electric, as the platform was introduced to a community of innovators, entrepreneurs, and digital enthusiasts. The unveiling marked a milestone not just for the app, but for the city itself, as it highlighted the growing influence of the Nnewi Tech Community in Nigeria’s digital space.

This powerful moment solidified Buzzy.ng as a homegrown solution with national potential, proving that innovation can thrive beyond major cities. More young people in Nnewi are now embracing technology, coding, design, and product development. There is a growing tech community that is passionate about building solutions for the Nigerian market.

This app is one of the first major products coming out of this community, and it sets a strong example for others. It proves that you don’t need to be in Lagos, Abuja, or abroad to build something valuable. You can start where you are, use what you have, and grow.

A Tool for the People

The average Nigerian student, business owner, or creative professional now has a platform that speaks their language. No need to depend on foreign platforms or struggle with overly complex fintech tools. The app is designed to be easy, useful, and rewarding.

  • Want to list your thrift items for sale? You can.
  • Planning an event and want to sell tickets? Done.
  •  Need to pay your light bill? Covered.
  • Want to promote your new fashion brand? Simple.
  • Looking to make passive income from referrals? That’s built in.

Where to Get Buzzy.ng?

Buzzy.ng is available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The app is regularly updated to improve security, add features, and enhance user experience.

Buzzy.ng is more than an app. It’s a sign that Nnewi is ready to lead in digital innovation. With entrepreneurs like Prince Obinna Muoma (the app’s founder) leading the way, the city is proving that local solutions can solve big problems.

As Nigeria continues to embrace the digital age, platforms like Buzzy.ng will play a crucial role in shaping the economy. And as more people join the Nnewi tech wave, we can expect even greater things ahead.
