Nnewi Digital Week 2025 || Driving Innovation and Digital Transformation in Anambra State

The first-ever Nnewi Digital Week, organized by the Nnewi Digital Community, was a 4-day event held from April 30th to May 4th, 2025. It brought together young innovators, tech enthusiasts, creatives, and professionals for a series of inspiring, engaging, and impactful activities aimed at promoting digital growth, networking, and empowerment in Nnewi. The event was themed:

“Driving Innovation and Digital Transformation in Anambra State.”

Here’s how the week unfolded, day by day:

On the first day, April 30th, the event kicked off with factory visits around Nnewi.

The tour was led by Mr Emenike Chikeluba, founder of Ubanized Media and a key stakeholder in the Nnewi Digital Community. Participants visited some of Nnewi’s major factories including:

• Tummy Tummy Foods
• Ibeto Petrochemical
• Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM)
• IkeGod Foods

It was a perfect way to start the week, reminding everyone of Nnewi’s rich industrial base and its potential to drive innovation through local production and tech.

On the second day, May 2nd, all roads led to The Nnewi Hotel and Events Centre for the highly anticipated Digital Symposium.

The event was beautifully anchored by Amaka Nwafor (Area Mama) and Ejikeme Kasie (King Kassy), who kept the energy high throughout the day.

Cornel Osigwe, the convener of the Nnewi Digital Community, welcomed everyone with an opening speech that set the tone for a day filled with ideas, opportunities, and inspiration.

Some of the speakers who took the stage included:

• Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor, former Anambra House of Assembly member representing Nnewi North
• Ozii Baba Anieto, convener of the Oba Ji Festival
• Emeka Monye, Arise TV correspondent in Anambra State
• Ada Enugu Agidi (Nwanadile Ifunanya), a popular social media influencer
• Prince Obinna Muoma, Nollywood filmmaker and founder of Buzzy.ng
• Mr. Bill Nnamdi Achusim, founder of Nnewi Tech Faculty

Some key guest speakers who couldn’t make it in person like Prof. Joseph Ugboaja (CMD, NAUTH) and Hon. Chinwe Okoli (Special Adviser on Innovation & Business Incubation) were represented by capable delegates.

Also in attendance was a representative from NEDDI (National Engineering Design and Development Institute), who gave an in-depth presentation about their work and the opportunities they offer to young innovators.

A surprise highlight was the guest appearance by Nze Tobe Osigwe (Eze Ikolommụọ) – the youngest Ọzọ title holder in Nnewi and a respected Nigerian writer.

In a truly heartwarming moment, Mr. Bill Achusim announced 40 tech scholarships for people in the community to learn digital skills of their choice, a life-changing gesture.

Then came the third day, May 3rd, dedicated to health and wellness.

It began early that morning at The Nnewi Hotel and Events Centre with the Health & Fitness Day.
Coach Odo Kelvin Mmaduabuchi, the community’s fitness coach, led everyone in a workout session followed by health talks. It was a reminder that wellness and productivity go hand in hand, especially in the digital space. The day ended with participants enjoying a bowl of fruits.

Finally, on the fourth and last day, May 4th, the week ended on a high note with the Gala Night.

Held once again at The Nnewi Hotel and Events Centre, it was a night of laughter, music, networking, and celebration. The event brought everyone together to reflect on the success of the week.

During the evening, Cornel Osigwe shared more exciting plans for the future of the Nnewi Digital Community, including more tech programs, business support, and community-driven projects.

In Summary…

Nnewi Digital Week 2025 wasn’t just an event, it was a movement. From factory floors to tech symposiums, workout sessions to gala celebrations, the week showed what’s possible when innovation meets community spirit. And this is just the beginning, Nnewi is rising as a digital hub in the Southeast.
