Miss Anambra, Onyinyechi Basil, Crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025
Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has emerged as Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 after a keenly contested finale held on Saturday, August 30, at the Balmoral Convention Center in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Basil, who hails from Anambra, triumphed over 21 other contestants to clinch the crown. She will now represent Nigeria at the 74th Miss Universe pageant scheduled for November in Thailand.

The first runner-up position went to Damilola Bolarinde (Miss Lagos), while Fortune Kurobo (Miss Bayelsa) and Irene Ikediashi (Miss Ogun) finished as second and third runners-up respectively. Idah Eno of Akwa Ibom was crowned Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025, earning her a ticket to represent Nigeria in Poland next summer.

The 5 finalist
Basil is a corporate professional with one of South Korea’s leading conglomerates, where she oversees operations across West Africa. Beyond her corporate achievements, she is passionate about maternal healthcare advocacy, a cause inspired by personal experience.
She succeeds Chidimma Adetshina, who made history last year as the first Nigerian to finish as first runner-up at the global Miss Universe pageant, also earning the title of Miss Universe Africa.
With her victory, Basil carries the hopes of millions of Nigerians as she prepares to showcase the country’s culture, resilience, and beauty on the world stage in Thailand.
