NNEWI HOSTS THE NIGERIAN BEACH SOCCER TOURNAMENT,2024 (ROUND 2)
Beach Soccer also known as sand football, is a variant association of football played on a beach or some form of sand.
The Nigerian Beach Soccer tournament, 2024(Round 2) is happening in Nnewi, Anambra State from the 15th of May to the 18th of May,2024. The host team is Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors, which is an Nnewi based Beach Soccer team in Anambra. The Anambra Beach Soccer team is the only Beach Soccer team in Anambra state and the only Beach Soccer in South-East, Nigeria, that has a female team.
Other Beach Soccer Teams from all over Nigeria are present to represent their states in the tournament.
The opening ceremony of the Nigerian Beach Soccer Tournament happened on the first day of the competition, which was on the 15th of May, 2024.The ceremony took place at Moonshine Arena, Nnewi High School.
So many activities and cultural displays took place on the day of the opening ceremony.Igbo cultural dance group from Living World Academy Nnewi rendered a beautiful performance during the opening ceremony. Ugoebenaja music group amongst other musical and entertainment groups also performed during the ceremony.
“Ijele” Masquerade ,the King of masquerades and the most revered in Igboland, whose presence instills fear into onlookers, appeared in its gigantic and colorful nature making a public display on that day, while adding flavor to the day’s event.
The Chairman of Innoson Vehicles and Motors (IVM), Chief Innocent Chukwuma graced the occasion and also did the official kick-off for the tournament. His company, Innoson Vehicles and motors is one of the official sponsors of the Beach Soccer Tournament.
The founder of the remarkable Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors is Professor Victor Madubuko. He is also the Chairman of Anambra Beach Soccer Association. He is the owner of trendy MoonShine Apartments that opened in Uru Umudim, Nnewi. It was opened last year and is thriving successfully. He is from Umudim, Nnewi but has lived a great part of life in the United States of America, after which he decided to come home, while bringing with him, great and sustainable establishments to help grow and emancipate our youths.
He is one of the notable Nnewi indigenes championing “Aku ruo uno” legacy by bringing lots of investments home, supporting talents and sports, and creating jobs for our people.
The Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors has achieved great milestones within the few years of existence. They have participated in several national and International Beach Soccer Competitions.
Spectators from far and wide comes around to cheer the teams up and wish their favorite teams success. It is such a grand event that brings people of different cultural background together to celebrate sports and support the youths.
