WAEC Pulls Down 2025 Result Portal After Glitch in Serialized Exam Papers
WAEC apologizes for technical issues affecting key subjects in the 2025 WASSCE; candidates urged to re-check results in 24 hours.

The West African Examinations Council has paused access to this year’s WASSCE results after discovering technical glitches during an internal review. The council issued an apology on Thursday, August 7, 2025, acknowledging that the issues stemmed from a newly introduced paper-serialization system used in key subjects. Candidates are advised to recheck their results after 24 hours, as the exam boby works swiftly to restore full access.
What Caused the Glitch?
WAEC had implemented paper serialization a method already in use by another national exams body to curb malpractice. This innovation affected four critical subjects:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Biology
- Economics
Upon a post-release review, errors emerged in result processing, prompting them to take down the result-checker portal temporarily until the issues are resolved.
WAEC’s Official Response

In its statement, they emphasized their dedication to fairness, transparency, and professionalism. The council offered a sincere apology to all affected candidates and the public, pledging a quick resolution within 24 hours.
What Candidates Should Do
- Do not panic. The glitch was procedural and unrelated to your actual performance.
- Recheck your result after 24 hours using the official portal: http://www.waecdirect.org
- Expect updated, accurate scores once the technical issues are fully addressed.
