Launch Of The Book Titled The City of Motorcycles; A View Into Nnewi City.
On the 5th of October, 2024, a Graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, College of health sciences, Okofia Nnewi, launched a book titled A City of Motorcycles at Old NAUTH, Dr. Metu Uzodike Hall.
This wonderful book is an insight into the Motorcycle culture of Nnewi, as the largest distributor of Motorcycles spareparts in Africa.
It’s no news that motorcycles were banned from plying major roads in every other parts of the country but it has failed in Nnewi because it’s a major source of livelihood in the city and a major export business and economic revenue generator for Anambra State.
This young man by name, Dr(PT) Robinson Modum is a graduate of Physiotherapy, an author of several books including Blue Iris, a researcher and Public speaker.
Having passed through NAU-CHS Okofia, he has lived a good number in Nnewi. So he was fascinated by the lifestyle, enough to write on it.
This book captured the average student life of students residing in this campus in Nnewi, and how the hustle and bustle life of nnewi entwines into their life.
On the day of the launch, several dignitaries, well meaning men, book lovers and creative were present to support him.
The newly elected Local Government Chairman of Anaocha, Hon. Romanus Ibekwe was present to unveil the book.
His family; mother and brothers were present to fully support him.
The Director of Nnewi Museum, Mr. Caleb-Festus Okeke-Enyobi was present too.
Professor Ikechukwu Ubaoji, Professor Joe Umunna gave Keynote speeches.
There were Panel Sessions, Keynote speeches, Book reviews and Art exhibitions by Young artists; ArtsyByOma and Chris Art.
His other books; Blue Iris and Unveiling your true Potential were on sale on that day too.
The author signed Autograph for everyone who got the book at the venue.
This amazing event was sponsored by several brands whose CEOs were present on the launch.
History was made on that day.
Many more Authors, theatres and foundations should project and portray Nnewi on the big screen, through books, movies etc.
