Burial of Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah (Ebubechukwuzo Nnewi)

Late Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah has been properly laid to rest on the 22nd of November, in the presence of his family, friends, associates, and well wishers.

The bishop of Ekwulobia diocese, His Lordship, Most Reverend Bishop Peter Okpaleke presided his burial mass in the presence of The Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye and tens of monsignors, cardinals and priests at St. Peter Clavers Parish, umuanuka village Otolo Nnewi.

The Bishop during the homily praised Ubah’s commitment to serving humanity and his exemplary life, saying that such should serve as a model for others to emulate.

He said, “His death is a lesson to us all. We must strive to live exemplary lives that will make people remember us for good when we are no longer here. We must touch lives, make a difference, and leave a lasting legacy. The late Ifeanyi Ubah lived a life full of legacy and philanthropic gestures. His death has touched everyone.”

The choir present during the burial mass gave the most beautiful renditions ever heard.

Prayers went up for the eternal repose of the distinguished senator.

It was indeed a very befitting burial for our great and iconic Senator.

More than 100 groups were present to give him last respect.

A very tight security details were present because a lot of dignitaries were there for the burial.

The Governor of Anambra State was present to bid him farewell. He gave a wonderful speech at the church during the burial service to acknowledge the doggedness and value of our late senator. He reminisced sadly with the congregation, his last discussions with the late senator and kept on asking him “is this what we discussed? This is not what we discussed.” It was a heart touching moment.

His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi was also present through the lying in state, to the church service and burial proper, showing his support.

Dr. Chris Ngige, Former Governor of Anambra State, Minister and Senator was present too as a great friend to the late senator.

The Senate President of Nigeria, Senator Godswill Akpabio was at the burial.Senator Abaribe, Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) amidst a great number of senators who availed themselves to pay their last respect to their colleague.

The CEO of AirPeace Airlines, Sir Allen Onyema honoured the occasion too.

The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese was among the congregation, paying his last respect to the Senator who was also supportive to them.

He was indeed a man of all.

Traditional Rulers were not left out. They came in their numbers to bid farewell to the Senator.

Igwe Nnewi was represented by his Son, the Crowned Prince of Nnewi Community, Prince Obianefo Orizu (Obinaechendo Nnewi).

His entrepreneur brothers from Nnewi weren’t left behind as they were all present to mark their respect to their worthy brother. The CEOs of Innoson Group, Chief Innoson Chukwuma; Ibeto Group, Chief Cletus Ibeto, Coscharis Group, Cosmas Maduka(CON), House of Assembly member representing Nnewi-North constituency, Hon. Augustine Ikedoji and many others.

So many business men and even celebrities from other parts of the country graced the occasion to support the family including The CEO of Cubana Group, Mr Obi Iyiegbu, E-money, Cubana Chiefpriest, Bob Manuel etc.

His political party, counterparts, church groups, societies who have benefited from his philanthropy, His football sports club (Ifeanyi Ubah FC) and other beneficiaries of his goodwill were all there to send their warrior home.

Group of young talents, both artistes, dancers etc which he supported their crafts during his lifetime came and performed special songs made for him to celebrate him and bid him good bye. It was really a touching one.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time, as they lost a great father and the entire Igbo land lost a Hero.
