Today marks the opening of New Yam Festival celebration in Nnewi, as Isi Ana Nnewi, the foremost deity in Nnewi marks the opening by first celebrating his own New Yam Festival.
There are five deities in Nnewi, and Isi Ana is the foremost among all of them. That’s why the deity always celebrates New Yam Festival before every other deities and persons.
New Yam Festival celebration in Nnewi is now open, and a lot of New Yam Festival celebrations will now start happening.
For those who don’t know, New Yam Festival Is an event done by Igbos to thank the God of harvest, their ancestors and Chi for a successful planting season. It’s an annual event that every community in Igboland observe.
