Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has died at the age of 82.
He passed away in London on Saturday, July 13, 2025, where he had been receiving medical care.

Muhammadu Buhari was a well-known figure in Nigeria. He first ruled the country as a military leader in the 1980s, then later became a democratic president in 2015. He led the country for eight years before handing over to President Bola Tinubu in 2023.

According to his family and aides, Buhari had been ill for some time but was said to be recovering. Sadly, he did not survive.

Nigerians across the country are mourning. Many are remembering him as a strong leader who fought corruption, even though his time in office was not without challenges. His government faced serious economic problems and rising insecurity, which brought both praise and criticism.

President Tinubu has declared a period of national mourning and ordered flags to fly at half-mast. Vice President Shettima has traveled to London to help bring Buhari’s body back home.
